Manzanillo had been occupied by native Mexicans for centuries before the first conquistadors arrived. Besides sightseeing at ancient ruins, there are beautiful churches and missions from the early Spanish era. The weekly market is a wonderful place to feel the Mexican pulse and pick up some souvenirs.

Nature also offers attractive diversion for visitors. There are beaches, a volcano and hiking trails.

Santiago and Salahua (Salagua)

Near Club Santiago are the towns of Santiago and Salahua. Here there are many restaurants and some night clubs.

Santiago has a municipal Market open daily for fresh fish and vegetables. There are shops offering resort wear and traditional arts and crafts. Don’t miss the “tianguis” a traditional street market that sets up every Saturday in the streets of Santiago.

In Salahua is Plaza Manzanillo, a shopping mall with many stores including Comercial Mexicana, a huge store that offers everything from groceries and hardware to television sets.

Manzanillo
